One of the kinds of rugs which are available in different varieties is the hand tufted rugs. These rugs can be differentiated from the ordinary rugs by its look itself.

There are hand knotted rugs which are different from hand tufted rugs. They are mistaken for knotted rugs which are known as hand-tufted rugs. It is made from China and India.

They are largely used nowadays and are even available in plenty of colours and designs. A gun is used for making hand tufted rugs. Gun can be defined as a hand operated tool which is made to punch wool strands that too into a canvas that is stretched on a frame.

For this the rug has the design drawn on it and it is the task of the worker to fill it with the suitable colour of the wool that matches it. It takes almost 3 or 4 days to complete a 9’ X 12’ carpet.

After completion, the rug is removed from the frame and a fabric is attached with gum to its back portion. The glue is the thing that keeps the wood pile in the place.

Hand tufted rugs are different from the oriental rugs due to the fact that they do not have knots like the oriental rugs.

A tufted rug does not get worn out soon when compared to other rugs. The resale value of hand tufted rug is somewhat similar to that of the resale value of a machine made rug of similar size.

The hand tufted rugs are available in almost all costs and they are well known for their beauty and long lasting nature.

Most of the hand tufted rugs looks similar to that of had knotted Chinese rugs due to the presence of fringes in them. This makes them something different and even identical to Chinese rugs.
