Persian carpets are referred to as the source of idea of the Indian carpets. It was the by the 13th-14th century that the hand knotted Persian carpets reached India.

During this time, it was considered as the royal treat. Such kinds of carpeting were seen commonly in Uttar Pradesh and Kashmir. The quality Indian carpets are made usually from silk or wool piled with cotton wefts.

Kashmir is the region in North India which is known for the wonderful Indian carpets made by them. These carpets are usually made of Kashmir silk which has a splendid lustre and brightness that gives a special effect to the carpet made by it.

These Indian carpets are known world wide and they are priced high due to their minute works and also the demand that they have at present in the carpet industry.
