Kashmir Rug

Kashmir is a small town which is well known for their craftsmen and their works. It is famous for the fine rugs produced.

Kashmir rugs depend largely on the Persian designs as they started their work decades back adopting these designs. But some of the designs of Kashmir rugs are of their own as many designs have been created by them recently.

These designs were created depending largely on the shawls, leaves, traditional paisleys and even flowers. Apart from Kashmir, other cities which are known for their rugs making are Agra, Amritsar, Warangal and even Eluru.

The most famous type of Kashmir rugs which are known for their quality and work are the hand knotted Kashmir rugs which has an origin that is of about 2000 years back.

These kind of special rugs were introduced and its significance was achieved during the Mughal rule.

This Kashmir rug largely uses wool as the basic material for rugs making. Apart from wool, Kashmir silk is also preferred which is frequently used.

The Kashmir rugs are knotted which are usually HandMade and they are famous for their quality too.

The number of knots present in these Kashmir rugs indicates the quality of these artifacts. One of the finest works is the Bokhara rugs which have almost 125-500 knots in a square inch, all of them are handmade exclusively.

Kashmir rugs are gaining their significance not only in India, but they have been exported to other countries as well. The Kashmir rugs are of great demand else where due to their quality of work which cannot be gained from any other type of rugs.

Usually fine and minute designs are included in these with varying colours that make them unique and preferred by all.
