Loom Carpets

A carpet itself is defined as any loom woven felted textile or grass floor covering. Looms are devices or hand driven machines which are used for making carpets.

The loom carpets are all produced by weaving from a standard loom. Looms are of two types namely, the floor looms and table looms. The loom carpets are all handmade ones.

They have high durability and reliability. Even with the hand weaving techniques and simple weaving technology a wide variety of the looms are seen and available.

Different colours and colour combinations are also prevalent these days. Required sizes, shapes and patterns of the loom carpets are easily made for the utility of the people.

The vertical and horizontal looms are used for making Oriental and European carpets.

In the looms, warp threads are set up on the frame before starting to make it. A lot of people work on the carpet for finishing the work. The knots are made on the carpet in a row and are completed and cut.

The rows are made to be secure along with the rows of the weft. The warp used for weaving the loom carpets were made of either linen or cotton, but nowadays a lot of selections are available which are in different colours and textures.

While shopping for loom carpets always look out for the closely spaced warp threads as the durability largely depends on this factor.The carpets are produced from loom which is much similar to a woven cloth and this carpet is cut pile.

The designs woven by the looms are considered to be the basic patterns used for carpets. These loom carpets are used widely these days due to their durability and cheap availability.
