Charm bracelets have been worn by many civilizations to protect themselves from various kinds of evil eye. They can be religious in nature, have small objects attached to them or have small trinkets.

They are worn around the wrist of a person and are also gifted to the loved ones. In Ancient Egypt during the time of pharaohs, charm bracelets were worn to ward off evil and to protect a person in the afterlife.

They told the Gods about the stature and status of the person. They also helped to distinguish between the various hierarchies in the society.

In Europe, the medieval knights wore charm bracelets too. They wore these for protection in the battle field. They were worn in Europe in the Dark Ages to distinguish members of the family.

Queen Victoria is known to have patronized the charm bracelets. This caused a fashion trend among the nobles of the court and in the high society. Wearing of charm bracelets during Queen Victoria became immensely popular.

They have become major fashion accessory and are been priced above $500 too. Of course the imitation ones are available at less than $10 too. These bracelets are available at top end fashion houses and are also available at the flea markets.

Society divas and college students both can now wear charm bracelets. Some of the designs are also been incorporated as neck pieces. In fact the house of Louis Vuitton has begun issuing the collectible Italian charms now.

 

With movie been a big influence in our life, fashion has also been influenced by it. The hit movie series, Pirates of the Caribbean has influenced charm bracelets. These bracelets have charms of swords, skulls and bones. Over the generations, these bracelets have been influenced by fashion as much as personal beliefs to ward off the evil eye.
