Gemstone Earring

There are many types of earrings fashioned out of valuable metals like gold or silver or baser alloys as well as brass and copper. Many of these are encrusted with gems making gemstone earrings popular from time immemorial.

Among the type of earnings are stud earrings that give the look of it floating in air because the contact disappears into the ear lobes. Usually gemstone earrings are of this type as the clutch or screw keeps it in place and prevents accidental loss.

Gemstone earrings can also be of the hoop design – circular or semi-circular. Usually gems are fixed onto a metal tubing with the ends tapering into a thin wire that goes through the ears.

The length varies and accordingly can be encrusted with many priceless gems that sparkle as the earring swings back and forth. A hook goes through the hole in the lobe to fix the gemstone earring in place.

Huggy earrings can also be gemstone earrings with the buttons hugging the ear flashing the gems.Some heavy gemstone earrings have chains attached to the rings and hooked on to the hair for added glamour and support.

One of the problems with earrings is that if not worn continuously the ears might get blocked. As such a thin ring is always worn or a piece of thin twig of the neem tree is inserted to prevent bacterial formation and puss that causes the hole to heal and get blocked

A gem that adds extra colour and dazzle to the earring transforming it into a gemstone earring is actually a precious or semi precious tones. It is cut and polished to before being fixed on to ornaments like gemstone jewellery.

Gems are usually hard and are prized for their rarity. The most popular of all gems is the diamond – it being valued more for its brilliance rather rarity. In yester years the ruby and sapphire were given a higher rating than the diamond.
