Gold Earring

The earring is a piece of jewellery adorning the ear. It can be made out of many things but the most popular and beautiful are the gold earrings.

Gold earrings can be born by both men and women.There are many methods of piercing the ear – Helix, Rook, Tragus and Industrial piercing.

A hole is made in various parts of the ear and through it the gold earrings or any other type of earring is inserted. Sometimes when the ear is not pierced then the wearer can adorn the ear with clip gold earrings.

The most common place for inserting the earring is the lobe. But there are other places on the ear also. Piercing of the upper part of the ears are cartilage piercings.

These are more complex operations and take a long time to heal. Apart from gold earrings the ornament can be made out of any kind of material plastic, glass, gems, beads, silver, copper, iron wire and even bones.

The designs too vary – studs, loops, plates and heavy dangling earrings. Those who habitually wear heavy earrings find that that their ear lobes get stretched.

Gold earrings have the added advantage of having healing properties and lessening chances of infection. In fact in many cases the ears are pierced with the gold earring itself minimizes chances of a festering sore.

In yester years men used to pierce their ears but now the idea has become quite common across the globe. Sailors never quite gave up the practice of wearing earrings even in the western world.

It relates to an old belief that the pierced ear is good for eye sight and hearing. The piercing of the ear is one of the oldest form of decorating the body.

Men wearing earrings can be seen in the frescoes and statues of ancient Persia.

In Anglo-based culture ear piercing was not common but soon teenagers arranged ear piercing parties and performed the operation themselves.

Today doctors have officially taken on the task. Sometimes the latest trend is to pierce just one ear. Another tendency is to cover the ear with many earrings as many as possible.
