Dyed garments have been worn by human beings for thousands of years, and it is today much more common to find dyed garments than it is to see one which is in its natural condition.

Many people do not know what colour their clothes originally were; and maybe would not like to wear fabrics which have not been previously dyed.

It has taken many hundreds of years to find a formula which will keep dyed garments from loosing their colour after a few washes; and developing this fixative was one of the essential ingredients in developing all the complicated colours and dyed garments that we wear today.

Dyed garments range from the very simple primary colours, to tie-dye practices, and on to very complex garments, which has several colours in the same piece of fabric.

Simple colours will obviously cost less to produce than very complex colours, and this saving can be passed down to the customer.

Simple dyed garments are also more suitable for work and business, and look more professional. Clothes which have a complex pattern are more likely to be found in leisure wear and in uniforms which have a special purpose, and even national dress.

In recent years, it has also become popular to buy hand-dyed clothes, which make people feel more natural and environmentally friendly. The fashion for tie-dye clothes has also returned, in part for the same reasons as noted above.

Dyed garments have a better chance of staying bright thanks to modern fixing techniques, and also synthetic dyes which are more adaptable. It is also possible to preserve the colour with protective washing techniques and detergents.

These mean that dyed garments can keep the great colours that they had in the shop, and the clothes therefore last longer, and provide more value for money.
