Ladies Lehenga

Ladies of the Moghal period used to wear Lehenga. It was their traditional dress. The queens of Indian kings also wore this Lehenga. Lehenga is a long skirt stretched up to the ankles, with lot of pleats or a skirt with a big circumference at the bottom.

A blouse or a shirt is worn on the lehenga. The blouse or the top is called as choli. A nice decorated duppata is worn over the choli giving the sense of purity and an essence of India culture. The ladies wear beautiful jewelry along with the ladies lehengas.

Earlier lehenga was a traditional dress and was worn everyday by the women of that time, but today it is not possible to wear ladies lehengas regularly due to maintenance.

But still in few states of India women still wear lehengas but not so costly ones. But in towns ladies lehengas are in fashion as marriage attire or a costume to be worn during some religious functions or during some special occasions like marriages and engagement ceremonies.

Earlier women used to wear sarees for the special occasions but now almost every one like to wear lehengas.

Ladies lehengas are available in variety of colors, textures and they also differ in the pattern of embroidery done on it. The heavier the embroidery and the work on it the costlier is the lehenga.

The cost of the ladies lehenga also depends on the material that is used to stitch a lehenga. You can get ladies lehengas made from Crepe, Satin, Tissue, Net, silk and cotton and many more.

The heavy worked lehengas are meant for occasions but you can even get simple ladies lehengas stitched for casual and regular wear.

For stitching these lehengas you can use cotton printed, batik print, tie and dye cotton or some cheap and easy to wear material and get the happiness of wearing a ladies lehenga.
